Service delivery levels for bulk LPG have received a boost with the purchase of 15 new horses, at a cost of R22.77m,by our external transport partner Tanker Services. The new horses will be dedicated to tankers distributing Afrox LPG countrywide.
“For the past six years we’ve distributed LPG through a fixed and variable contract with Tanker Services,” explains Andre Steenkamp, National Distribution Manager. “In essence, we hire these truck tractors and tankers monthly from Tanker Services to carry out a select portion of our LPG deliveries. They have extensive experience in the movement of bulk petroleum fuels and bulk liquid gas products across southern Africa for a number of different customers. The trucks delivering our product are branded with the Afrox corporate colours and all drivers have passed through and been accredited by Afrox’s driver training programme.
This year Tanker Services’ LPG distribution tankers will each cover an estimated10 500 km per month — totalling 1,89 million km for the year — and deliver roughly 43200 tons of LPG annually throughout South Africa.
